If you want to buy one of the best televisions, you have to shell out over 1000 euros or much more. But devices that have been found to be good by Stiftung Warentest are available for around 500 euros.

There are currently no revolutionary innovations in televisions, which is good news for buyers. Because the technology is mature, you can find numerous good devices, as the updated Stiftung Warentest database shows. There are now a total of 103 televisions in the list that have received at least a quality rating of 2.5. The test winners usually cost 1000 euros or much more, but retailers also offer price hits starting at around 500 euros. Even in the premier class you don't have to spend more than 650 euros for a good television.

    Small TVs

The range of small TV sets with screen diagonals of up to 43 inches is not particularly large, which is why there are only nine good and still available sets in the product test list. The lonely peak here is LG OLED42C37LAwhich achieved a quality rating of 1.8 with a very good picture, good sound and good handling. The testers rated its power consumption as satisfactory, but almost no television performed better in this category. With a bit of luck you can get it online for just under 1000 euros, its average price is 1149 euros.

The price-performance star in this size class is Samsung GQ43Q60DAUwhich can be had for around 600 euros. Like all inexpensive devices, it has an LCD, while the expensive test winners are equipped with OLED displays. Its picture is still good, the same applies to the sound and handling.

    Medium sized TVs

TV sets with 50 to 55 inch screens are particularly in demand, which is why there is a correspondingly large selection. The sole leader here is LG OLED55G48LW. It received an overall grade of 1.7 and its average online price is just under 1,600 euros. The OLED television shines with a very good display, and the sound and handling received good reviews.

This follows with a quality rating of 1.8 LG OLED55B39LA. It received slightly weaker individual grades, but it also has a very good screen. Retailers offer it for just under 1,100 euros, which means it has a particularly good price-performance ratio.

If a good display is good enough, that's it LG 55UT80006LA a hot tip because it only costs around 500 euros. In addition to its image, the examiners also rated its sound and handling well.

    Big TVs

There are even larger devices, but Stiftung Warentest has limited itself to the more common televisions with screen diagonals of up to 65 inches. In the premier class there are three test winners who are at the top with an overall grade of 1.7.

Among them, the cheapest device is the one with an average online price of 1754 euros LG OLED65C37LA. The testers rated the television's picture and sound very good and its handling good.

The LG OLED65G48LW is more expensive at around 2070 euros, but it is the big exception that also has good power consumption in the individual results.

The price-performance winner among the 65-inch models is the Samsung GU65DU7179Uwhich is already available for around 650 euros. The picture, sound and handling of the LCD television are good, and overall it received a quality rating of 2.4.
