Violated against Leverkusen
Manuel Neuer is making new concerns to FC Bayern
In winter, FC Bayern guides Jonas Urbig from 1st FC Köln to Munich, the 21-year-old is to be built up as the successor to Manuel Neuer. However, Urbig is suddenly challenged in the Champions League round of 16. Because Neuer has to get off the field after almost an hour.
FC Bayern was about to switch to the party mode, when Manuel Neuer indicated that it does not go on. Immediately after the goal of Jamal Musiala for the meantime 2-0 against Bayer Leverkusen, the 38-year-old indicated that he had to be replaced. Neuer got rid of his goalkeeper gloves, handed over the captain's armband to Joshua Kimmich and made his way towards the cabin. With a right -wing noise, he had already got rid of the shin -loved one – and initially without a recognizable cause of the problems on the right leg.
“It happened when cheering,” said Bayern coach Vincent Kompany a little smile at DAZN – and added more seriously: “That is a shame for us. We always talked about the squad: If it is Urbig, then it is primeval – and we will not worry.”

As a result of the jubilation, Neuer was sitting on the lawn, then he tried again briefly before shook his head and waited for his representative to be ready on the bench. While it was the 150th CL game of his long career for the long-standing national team captain, a debutant came into play for him. Jonas Urbig then not just completed his first game in the soccer king class from the 58th minute, but also his first effort for FC Bayern.
Urbig waves quick promotion to the temporary number 1
The 21-year-old was only moved to Munich in this winter transfer window, now he could rise from the replacement goalkeeper at the ambitious second division club 1. FC Köln to the interim number 1 at the Bundesliga record champion. Unlike new ones, who had prevented the compensation of Leverkusen's Jeremie Frimpong with a great parade in the 14th minute, the Urbig then no longer had to accomplish glossy dates to secure the clear 3: 0 (1: 0) victory.
The U21 national goalkeeper changed from the Rhine to the Isar at the end of January after the actual substitute goalkeeper Daniel Peretz threatened to fall out for weeks due to a kidney injury. The transfer fee should be eight million euros plus bonus payments of 3.5 million euros. Against Leverkusen, Sven Ulreich was sitting on the bench next to Urbig, who had represented the new again and again in recent years.
Depending on how long the Bayern captain is now, Urbig could be entrusted with its representation just a few weeks after his arrival in Munich. The number 2 at Bayern is at least a significant position – after all, new ones have missed more than 50 games since December 2022 and had to suspend five times this season.
