Lenovo has screens folded down and infected

At the MWC technology fair in Barcelona, the Lenovo company presents its latest ideas every year. This time, a laptop with a reversible display area and attachment screens attract attention. These products are not always on the market – but good for the image.
The Chinese computer manufacturer Lenovo is working on significantly enlarging the screen surface of laptops. After the company had already introduced a computer in 2023, in which the screen can be extended by around ten centimeters and thus enlarged, it presented a laptop with the working title Flip, which has an overwhelming display as part of the Mobile World Congress Technology Mass.
This can be folded back, then the opposite can look at the folded half of the screen. Two becomes from a screen. This should make cooperation with colleagues easier or help in customer discussions. With another new Lenovo laptop you can infect an additional screen on the right and left. This should be able to work more productively. The laptop with foldable display and the additional screens are still in the development stage, they are conceptual evidence (“proof of concept”). It is unclear whether you will ever get into the shops. “We are working hard on it and do our best,” says the responsible innovation manager Karen Gao at the presentation of the innovations where artificial intelligence (AI) plays a central role.
If the screen is not folded in in the flip version, but remains in overflow in front of the user, this can be a shaky affair: when presenting in Barcelona, a device tipped back several times because the screen was too heavy. The user must attach a plastic support to the laptop to ensure stability. Lenovo has been showing unusual developments on the MWC for years, in 2024 it was a laptop with a transparent screen – this should help, for example, that the laptop in customer calls is no longer a visual block.
New developments are also image maintenance
However, some Lenovo innovations got stuck in the development stage and did not make it to the product product. From the point of view of experts, this is not too bad. Due to the concept of concepts, Lenovo strengthens its brand image, says Ben Wood from the consulting company CCS Insight. “They help to position Lenovo as an innovative company.” As a result, Lenovo has better cards when selling mainstream products.
The laptop with the screen, which is also presented at the MWC in 2023, which can be extended for ten centimeters and thus expanded, has now been declared a market -like product. Lenovo would like to sell it in shops this summer.
