An update adds a setup wizard for Fritzboxes to the MyFritz app. This makes configuring AVM routers even easier and child's play, even for beginners.
Many German households already have a Fritzbox, and the next router will probably come from the Berlin manufacturer AVM. Other users are newcomers who are now or will soon buy their first Fritzbox. For all of them, configuring the new device will be even easier than it already is with an update to the MyFritz app.
The reason for this is a new setup assistant that comes with the update of the application, which is available for Android and iOS devices. To start it, all you have to do is scan a QR code with the device on which MyFritz is installed. The program then guides users through the process step by step on their smartphone or tablet and ensures that all settings are made correctly. According to AVM, this should make the initial setup not only more intuitive, but also more reliable.
Four Fritzboxes go ahead, more to follow
The new setup assistant of the MyFritz app is currently available for all Fritzboxes that are operated on DSL and fiber optic connections and on which at least FritzOS 7.80 is installed. This currently applies to four widely used models: FritzBox 5590 Fiber (fiber optic), FritzBox 5530 Fiber (fiber optic), FritzBox 7590 AX (DSL) and FritzBox 7530 AX (DSL).
More models are to be added in the coming months. These may include the Fritzbox 6660 Cable, the Fritzbox 6690 Cable, the Fritzbox 6591 Cable and the Fritzbox 7590 (DSL). FritzOS 7.90 is available as a laboratory version (beta software) for these AVM routers. And the description of the functions that come with it states, among other things, that the new features of FritzOS 7.80 are also part of the firmware.
