The Bundestag election takes place on Sunday, a few days later the carnival starts. Shortly before the weekend, Markus Söder is disguised – and without a beard.

“Preparations are ongoing,” Markus Söder wrote on Friday afternoon to a photo on which a razor could be seen. With the snapshot, the Bavarian Prime Minister informed his almost 700,000 followers that he separated from his facial hair with a heavy heart. “The beard had to leave.” At first the politician did not give one reason for the shave.

Five hours later, however, Söder once again shared a contribution on Instagram. This time the 58-year-old can be seen himself-disguised as Elvis Presley. The Prime Minister wears a black wig and matching chops. He also put the music legend on one of the legendary stage outfits. To do this, he combined glass glasses.

For the costume, Söder now separated from his beard, which he had presented for the first time in the summer of 2024. At that time, the prime minister's look caused a stir. Read more here.

“The King lives!” Söder wrote about the picture. He was disguised as Elvis Presley in Veitshöchheim on Friday because he has been a big fan since his youth and has always wanted to go as a King of Rock'n'roll. He also promises his followers something musical. “After I have now discovered my passion for singing, there will soon be an Elvis song from me.”

In just 20 minutes, the contribution was provided with more than 5,000 likes. Numerous fans commented on the snapshot. “So ingenious,” wrote, for example, to the picture. “I almost didn't recognize him,” another. “Very nice costume and great idea,” said a user. Compliments such as “cool”, “wonderful” and “very nice” can also be found in the comment column.
