Transfer coup for ten million
Leverkusen gets Gladbach star Jonas Hofmann
His contract is less than a year old – and should last until 2025. But now Jonas Hofmann is leaving Mönchengladbach prematurely and, according to a report, moving to Leverkusen. This is a successful transfer surprise for Bayer.
According to a media report, national soccer player Jonas Hofmann is moving from Borussia Mönchengladbach to Bayer Leverkusen. As the “Kicker” reported, the Leverkusen team is using an exit clause in the offensive player’s contract. It should be in the region of ten million euros. The surprising transfer would be a coup for Leverkusen. Hofmann's departure would be a bitter loss for Borussia.
It was only in August last year that Gladbach extended Hofmann's contract until 2025, including an option for another year. The experienced and dangerous creative player should take on a central role in the newly formed team after the departure of several top performers. The 30-year-old was even considered a candidate for the captaincy under the new Gladbach and former Leverkusen coach Gerardo Seoane.
Hofmann moved from Borussia Dortmund to Lower Rhine in January 2016. There he developed into a respected leader. Last season he scored twelve goals in 31 games in the Bundesliga.
