Strong Pro Bowl performance
German NFL star shines at consolation event
Amon-Ra St. Brown has had the best NFL season of his career. The Detroit Lions missed the Super Bowl, but the German-American is now showing his strength at another event.
NFL pro Amon-Ra St. Brown also impressed at the Pro Bowl. The German-American from the Detroit Lions caught ten passes for 173 yards at the American Football League's All-Star event, scoring a touchdown for the NFC team. The 24-year-old's team beat the AFC selection 64:59, with the results of a flag football game being added together with other competitions. The low-contact variant of flag football will be an Olympic sport for the first time in 2028 in Los Angeles.
On February 11th, the mega spectacle of the year will take place: the Super Bowl. RTL and RTL+ will broadcast the game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers as well as the halftime show with megastar Usher.
The kick-off will take place at 0:30 am Central European Time on Sunday night. The broadcast will start at 11:15 pm.
St. Brown was nominated to replace the injured AJ Brown of the Philadelphia Eagles. He had already taken part in the exhibition event for the best NFL players of the season last year as a replacement.
St. Brown was previously annoyed that he had not been selected directly for the event in Orlando, Florida, a week before the Super Bowl, as he has had a strong season. He set career highs with 119 passes caught in the regular season for 1,515 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Only two players caught more passes and had more yards, and only three professionals scored more touchdowns. In the playoff semifinals, Detroit and St. Brown were narrowly defeated by the San Francisco 49ers and thus missed out on a place in the Super Bowl. The outstanding player at the show event for the AFC was receiver Keenan Allen of the Los Angeles Chargers. He shone with three caught touchdowns and one thrown touchdown.
