The musician has announced a new album. But at the same time, Halsey shares less pleasant news: she is struggling with health problems.
Singer Halsey is not only making a musical comeback. The 29-year-old announced a new album and a new single entitled “The End” on Tuesday. But she also shared private messages that have her fans worried. “Long story short: I'm lucky to be alive. Long story short: I wrote an album,” she posted alongside several videos on her account.
In the first clip, Halsey sits on a sofa and rubs her legs. She repeatedly moans in pain. She tells a person who is not in the picture: “I feel like an old woman. I promised myself I would give myself two more years to be sick. At 30, I will experience a rebirth, I will not be sick anymore and I will look super hot and have so much energy. I will relive my twenties in my thirties.”
Other pictures, also flashbacks, show the 29-year-old during hospital stays. Among other things, she can be seen crying, with a drip in her arm and with her hair shaved short. “This is day one of treatment,” she says to the camera in one clip. Halsey does not reveal which illness she is battling. In the post, however, she links the Instagram accounts of the “Leukemia & Lymphoma Society” and the “Lupus Research Alliance”. According to a press release quoted by several US media outlets, part of the album's proceeds will be donated to the two organizations.
In 2022, Halsey had already revealed that she had suffered from numerous health problems after the birth of her son the previous year and that doctors eventually diagnosed her with a number of autoimmune diseases, including Sjögren's syndrome and mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS).
