FDP politician Christian Lindner usually holds back from making statements about his private life. But now he is talking about his future role as a father.
Christian Lindner not only made headlines professionally last year, but also privately. The ex-Finance Minister and his wife, the former political reporter Franca Lehfeldt, announced that they were expecting children for the first time. A big change that Lindner now talked about in a podcast.
As a guest in the audio format “My Way”, the FDP politician explained to journalist Tanja May: “The pregnancy is a great blessing for us. A decisive moment in life.” He and Lehfeldt would let everything come to them. He emphasizes: “We both want to take equal care of the family.”
Parental leave is not provided for by law for MPs and ministers, says Lindner, but politicians also want more time with their families: “Maybe there will be a solution for this in the future.”
In his eyes, the debate is overdue. It is “also a question of fairness within a partnership that care and attention is distributed between both parents.”
