Around four weeks before the official presentation, a regulatory authority leaked photos of all four upcoming Google Pixel smartphones. They show numerous details and confirm previous rumors about the technical specifications of the devices.
On August 13th, Google will present its new Pixel smartphones. The most exciting thing will be their software and AI capabilities, because most of the technical data is already known. Recently, “Android Authority” published a large number of photos and battery data. They apparently come from the Taiwanese regulatory authority NCC, which licenses the devices. The images show almost all the details of the four devices and match previous leaks that provide further information about the upcoming Pixel fleet. This also includes the possible prices of the smartphones.
The photos also confirm the new design of the devices. The well-known leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer alias @Onleaks had already shown it on “91Mobiles” and “MySmartPrice” using computer graphics.
Pixels 9
The Pixel 9 is probably Google's new entry-level model, which will replace the manufacturer's A-class at least this year. However, according to the specifications, the 9 is by no means a cheap smartphone. Like the other Pixel newcomers, it will most likely be powered by Google's latest Tensor G4 chip, which is supported by 12 gigabytes (GB) of RAM.
According to @Onleaks, the smartphone measures 152.8 x 71.9 x 8.5 millimeters (mm) and has a 6.24-inch OLED display that offers refresh rates of up to 120 Hertz (Hz). An ultrasonic fingerprint sensor is said to be integrated into the panel, which reacts faster than the optical sensor of current devices.
Google will probably offer variants with 128 and 256 GB of flash storage. According to NCC images, the Pixel 9's battery has 4558 milliampere hours (mAh), roughly the same capacity as the Pixel 8's battery.
The device is expected to have two cameras on the back, which are now housed in a newly designed unit. Their metal base no longer merges into the frame of the smartphone casing, which now has a clear edge and is no longer rounded.
According to information from “Android Authority”, the optically stabilized (OIS) wide-angle main camera has a resolution of 50 megapixels (MP), with the sensor being the same as in the Pixel 8. The ultra-wide-angle camera also takes photos with up to 50 MP and is said to have a new, more powerful sensor. According to the leaks, the front has the same 12.5 MP front camera as in the Pixel 8, but now with autofocus.
Pixel 9 Pro
The Pixel 9 Pro is said to measure 162.7 x 76.6 x 8.5 mm and have a 6.34-inch 120 Hz screen. In this model, the Tensor G4 can allegedly access 16 GB of RAM and Google is said to offer a variant with 512 GB of flash storage. The battery of the Pro apparently has the same capacity as the standard model.
In addition to the main and ultra-wide-angle cameras, the 9 Pro is also expected to have a 50 MP telephoto camera (OIS). The front camera is said to be new and also have a resolution of 50 MP.
Like its predecessor, the new Pro will probably have a temperature sensor. It will also be able to transmit data via ultra-wideband (UWB) and determine distances and directions to other devices equipped with this wireless technology.
Pixel 9 Pro
For the first time since the Pixel 4, Google is set to offer an XL smartphone again. It is expected to measure 162.7 x 76.6 x 8.5 mm, have a 6.73-inch display and a 4942 mAh battery. According to the leaks, the XL could be the only new Google device to have a version with 1 terabyte (TB) of flash storage. Otherwise, the specifications known so far are the same as those of the smaller Pro. However, it is suspected that Google will give the XL exclusive features that will make it stand out as a new flagship.
Pixel 9 Pro Fold
The fourth newcomer is the second generation of the Pixel Fold, which will probably be called the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. In addition to thinner display edges, the first thing you notice in the NZZ photos are the newly arranged cameras on the back. They are no longer placed next to each other in a wide bar in the middle at the top, but in two units one above the other in the left corner. The front camera in the inner screen has moved from the central position to the right corner of the panel. The fold also seems to be a little less deep than its predecessor, but you can't tell for sure from the pictures.
According to leaks, the Tensor G4 chip in the new Fold also has 16 GB of RAM and Google is offering two versions with 256 and 512 GB of flash memory. Like the other two Pros, the folding smartphone is expected to have three cameras on the back. However, according to Android Authority, the sensors will be smaller due to lack of space. Like its predecessor, the new Fold could have a main camera with 48 MP (OIS), a 10.5 MP telephoto camera (OIS) and an ultra-wide-angle camera with 12 MP. The two front cameras are expected to have a resolution of 10 MP.
If the leaked dimensions are correct, the Fold has become larger. The inner display is said to have grown from 7.6 to 8.1 inches, the outer screen from 5.8 to 6.6 inches. According to Android Authority, the Pixel Fold 9 Pro measures 155.2 x 150.2 x 5.27 mm when unfolded and 155.2 x 77.1 x 10.54 mm when folded. This would make it longer, but also thinner than the first generation.
Prices
A few days ago, the French portal Dealabs announced possible euro prices. The Pixel 9 is said to cost around 800 or 900 euros. For the 9 Pro, you will apparently have to shell out at least 1100 euros, and for the 512 GB model 1330 euros. The Pixel 9 Pro XL is said to cost at least 1200 euros, and the 1 TB version 1690 euros. For the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, the portal mentions prices of around 1900 and 2030 euros.
