Former Viva presenter causes dismay in the camp

    -

Mola Adebisi is now causing controversy among his fellow jungle camp contestants with a discussion about gender. The presenter is not a fan of the topic of emancipation.

Editor’s note: The content of this article refers to the jungle camp episode, which will not be shown on linear TV until August 28th, but is already available on RTL+.

On day 13, gender roles are discussed in the jungle camp. Mola Adebisi is at the forefront. The former Viva presenter tells his fellow contestants: “I don't believe in emancipation” and causes brief bewilderment in the camp with another statement: “So my wife is my queen, but I am the law,” says the 51-year-old, who has been married to his partner Adelina Zilai since February.

Shortly afterwards, however, Adebisi makes it clear that in reality his “queen tells us what to do” and that he has “no say” at home. In the course of the conversation, however, he speaks out in favor of gender roles. He helps with the housework, “but my wife also tells me very clearly when we are both sitting in the car: 'I'm not filling up this car, you have to do it.' She doesn't want that. She comes from Romania, that's how it is there,” says Adebisi. He treats his wife like a queen: “She doesn't have to do anything.”

He goes on to explain: “I don't want to do what a woman does. I can't do that either. And a woman shouldn't do what a man does. That's not possible either.” His statements make Sarah Knappik angry. The former “Germany's Next Top Model” candidate finds his “cliché thinking” “difficult”.

“Who told the guy: This is the woman from the picture book, this is the man from the picture book. There are different kinds of women, there are different kinds of men. That's completely fine,” says Knappik, who clarifies: “For me, everyone should live the way they want and I'm glad that this is possible.”

According to Adebisi, men are now “demonized for what we do.” “Men should respect women for what they do. And women should respect men for what they do,” he says. Elena Miras also joins the discussion. Women have “overdone feminism these days,” she claims, and immediately offers a supposed reason for this: “There are no men out there anymore. What man can build you a closet these days?”

According to Gigi Birofio, a woman is “simply better than a man.” While his father would lie on the couch after work, his mother would also take care of the housework, cooking and the children after work. However, when it comes to whether a certain gender is better suited to raising children, he sees equal potential in women and men: “The most important thing, folks, is to simply give love. That's it, that's all a child needs,” said the reality star.

On August 15, “I'm a Celebrity – The Showdown of the Jungle Legends” started on RTL+. On linear television, the special broadcast to mark the show's 20th anniversary only started one day later.

As usual, the jungle camp will be hosted by Sonja Zietlow and Jan Köppen. However, this year “I'm a Celebrity – The Showdown of the Jungle Legends” will not take place in Australia, but in South Africa. The show was also recorded. Filming took place several weeks ago.
