Barbara Schöneberger is amused by her own ESC look

    -

The presenter always gets the TV audience talking with her ESC outfits. This year, Barbara Schöneberger once again opted for a flashy creation.

The ESC not only includes the musical performance, but also the choice of costume – and presenter Barbara Schöneberger in particular puts in a lot of effort every year. The 50-year-old has been in front of the camera for the Eurovision Song Contest for ten years, moderating the preliminary decision and announcing the points in the grand finale until the very end.

Barbara Schöneberger can be seen again in 2024. She takes over the moderation of the countdown. The ARD shows it 45 minutes before the start of the final. The TV star once again dressed up for the show. Barbara Schöneberger chose a pink dress with a striking yellow pattern and an interesting cut.

The dress is shoulder-free on one side and has XXL puffed sleeves on the other side. “Of course she got dressed up for the ESC in Sweden – with a little Swedish Köttbullar on my shoulder,” joked the presenter. “So we are well prepared for everything that comes tonight.”

However, the gaudy look wasn't well received by the audience. For example, a user on the X platform wrote: “Great! Schöneberger dressed up as an Aperol Spritz this year.” Another user commented: “Schöneberger simply wore her grandma's curtain as a dress.” Also to be read: “Without this strange thing on her arm, Ms. Schöneberger's dress would be really beautiful.” Another viewer joked: “Barbara has her pillow to sleep with in case it gets boring.”

In recent years, Barbara Schöneberger has always chosen flashy outfits. In 2023, for example, the presenter wore a pink dress that was printed all over with colorful macarons. She paired the dress with the opulent shoulder pads with neon yellow earrings and a teased updo. You can see the look again here. You can see her other ESC outfits in our photo show.

Barbara Schöneberger will be replaced when points are awarded

This year, Barbara Schöneberger did not read the points out loud. The reason: The presenter led the ESC countdown and the aftershow live from Malmö – and that was a problem. According to the requirements of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), the presenters of the jury points must be located in their own country. Barbara Schöneberger had to be represented as early as 2023: Elton took over the role at that time.

Now another TV colleague has followed in these footsteps. Presenter Ina Müller announced the twelve ESC points from the German jury on Saturday evening. The 58-year-old was broadcast live from an NDR studio in Hamburg-Lokstedt to Malmö to say the famous sentence: “12 points of the German jury go to…”.

Ina Müller was given this honorable task for the second time. As early as 2011 – when the ESC was held in Germany after Lena Meyer-Landrut's victory – she announced which musical contribution was at the top of the German rankings.

This time Germany's twelve points went to Sweden. In the end, Switzerland won. Singer Isaak, who represented Germany on stage at the Eurovision Song Contest this year, took twelfth place with his song “Always On The Run”.
