ARD has decided on Klamroth's “Hart aber fair” future

    -

Recently it was uncertain what would happen to Louis Klamroth as host of “Hart aber fair”. Now the ARD has announced whether the talk show will continue.

For over 20 years, Frank Plasberg was the face of “Hart aber fair”, welcoming guests from politics, business and society to the ARD talk show. At the beginning of 2023, the show returned after the winter break with Louis Klamroth as the new presenter. In January of this year, the 34-year-old also replaced his predecessor as producer and gave the format a new concept.

Plasberg was not the only one to be disappointed with his successor; many viewers also couldn't really get used to the new “Hart aber fair” and its presenter and were repeatedly critical. There were also rumors that the station was not sure whether Klamroth was the right person for Monday evenings on Das Erste in the long term. Most recently, it was said that the future of the ARD political talk show was under scrutiny. You can read more about this here.

Now the broadcaster has decided on “Hart aber fair” and Louis Klamroth's role: The talk show will continue. As will “Caren Miosga” and “Maischberger”. They will all remain in “the tried and tested slots on Das Erste,” the ARD explained in a statement on Wednesday. The three formats “were convincing in terms of content, complemented each other and were very well received by the audience. All talk shows were able to increase – both in terms of market share and viewing figures,” it continues.

But there will also be innovations: “The non-linear offerings will be given even more focus in the future as part of the overall concept of the talk shows. This will make it even easier to bring the political discourse to younger target groups.” The ARD video program conference has decided that a “new, modified constellation of the ARD talk show” will be developed for next year. Details of the possible changes have not yet been announced.
