Apple is reportedly already preparing to mass produce a new iPhone SE, which is expected to hit the market soon. If the information is correct, the device will be significantly different from its predecessors. In addition, new iPad Air models and Mac computers are said to be in the starting blocks.

A new iPhone SE is overdue, the latest model is from March 2022. For some time it was rumored that Apple would discontinue the series, and the accurate analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also thought this was likely at times. However, last year he wrote that his recent research showed that Apple had resumed work on the iPhone SE 4. He seems to have been right, because according to a report from Bloomberg, the device is said to be close to mass production and looks as described by the analyst.

    Based on iPhone 14

The usually well-informed author Mark Gurman writes that according to his sources, the new iPhone SE will be launched early next year. And he confirms Kuo's prediction that the device will be based on the iPhone 14. This means that the ancient design with a home button and wide bezels above and below the display is history.

The successor will therefore have a 6.1-inch OLED screen with a wide notch. Among other things, the cameras and sensors for facial recognition (Face ID), which replaces the fingerprint sensor (Touch ID), are housed there.

It's quite likely that the iPhone SE 4 will feature the A18 chip, which powers the current standard 16s. Because it would be able to carry out the upcoming Apple Intelligence functions.

Gurman doesn't mention any further specifications, but one can assume that the newcomer will be weaker than the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus in various areas in order not to cannibalize these devices. Among other things, Apple could take over the cameras of the iPhone 14.

New iPads and Macs later this year

Gurman also assumes that new iPad Air models with 11 and 13 inch screens are in preparation. Having only released variants with the M2 chip earlier this year, Apple only expects changes under the hood. He doesn't give any details. The same applies to new iPad minis, which Apple is scheduled to bring onto the market before the turn of the year.

Mac computers equipped with the current M4 chip will also soon go on sale, writes Gurman on Threads. This should include new MacBook Pro and Air models, updated Mac minis and iMacs.
