Pop star Beatrice Egli starts a “new beginning”

    -

Eleven years after her DSDS victory, Beatrice Egli will sit on the jury for the RTL show. Before that, however, she had to come to terms with something from her past.

In 2013, Beatrice Egli won the tenth season of the RTL casting show “Deutschland sucht den Superstar” and took the pop world by storm. The 35-year-old is now one of the most successful German-speaking singers in the industry.

Now she is returning to her roots: This year Beatrice Egli will sit on the DSDS jury herself – alongside her former discoverer Dieter Bohlen. But before the Swiss woman accepted the TV job, she sought a clarifying conversation with the pop titan. “We sat together for several hours and talked,” she said in an interview with the news agency spot on news.

There were disagreements between the two after Beatrice Egli's DSDS victory because the singer didn't want to be influenced. “I was really told: 'You have to lose weight, you have to go to the solarium and you can't sing hits,'” she revealed in the “Bauchgefrischer” podcast some time ago.

Beatrice Egli is looking forward to the new DSDS jury

Dieter Bohlen did not support her at the time, but also advised her to sing more in English. But Beatrice Egli remained true to herself – with success. For a long time she still lacked the self-confidence for a jury job on DSDS. “I always thought that I wasn't ready to advise or evaluate people who had the same dream as me,” said the 35-year-old to spot on news. “Today I have this experience and at the same time the respect for those who have the courage to come to the casting. That's why I think I can handle it well.”

And she is also at peace with Dieter Bohlen after the discussion. “It’s nice that we’re starting a new beginning together,” said the singer. She is looking forward to working with the Modern Talking star and the other jury members, singer Pietro Lombardi and rapper Loredana. “I find the mix of such diverse personalities exciting. We work in very different genres, and that's what sets this jury apart in my opinion.”
