The composition of the electricity price is complex and changes every year. What does the individual distribution look like at the moment?
The electricity price in Germany is currently made up of several components, which are divided into three categories: costs for electricity generation, taxes and other charges, and network fees. The percentage share here can vary from year to year. The distribution for 2024 is as follows:
The network charges are determined by the network operator responsible for the region. The Federal Network Agency monitors the amount of electricity network charges levied.
The amount of the network charges applicable to you is listed on your annual electricity bill. However, this is the fee from the previous billing period. Alternatively, you can find out the exact amount on the website of your responsible network operator.
This depends on your energy supply contract and the associated general terms and conditions. The following two regulations or contract clauses are common:
Normal price adjustment clause
The energy supplier changes prices at its own discretion if necessary. If the concession fee is reduced or increased, there is no obligation to adjust the price for customers accordingly.
Separate price adjustment clause
The energy supplier must pass on price changes ordered by the state (sovereignty) directly to the customer. If the concession fee is reduced or increased, there is therefore an obligation to adjust the price for the customer accordingly.
