Many consumers who use a particular Bosch device should quickly check its serial number. It could pose a life-threatening risk.
The company Bosch Home Comfort is currently recalling several instantaneous water heaters. There is a risk of poisoning.
The recall affects the
the Therm 4300 product family
in the power sizes 14L and 14LR
and the production period November 2019 to May 2023,
the company says.
Internal quality controls have shown that an increased carbon monoxide concentration can occur in the exhaust gases. This can happen when the burner is dirty. This is the case, for example, if the appliance has not been serviced in a timely and adequate manner, explains the manufacturer. “If there are also poor draft conditions in the chimney or exhaust system, there is a risk that carbon monoxide-enriched exhaust gases will escape unnoticed into the installation room, thus posing a significant safety risk,” explains Bosch, warning: “There is a risk of poisoning.”
Owners of a Bosch Home Comfort instantaneous water heater can check on the company's website whether their device is affected by the recall (link). Affected customers should also contact Bosch directly by phone (telephone number 0800 4683533). Alternatively, they can also contact the company via email ([email protected]).
According to Bosch, devices affected by the recall can continue to be used under certain conditions until they are replaced. However, only to a limited extent. The company asks consumers to limit the amount of time they use the device to heat water (washing up, showering, bathing) to a maximum of 15 minutes. In addition, the room in which the water heater is located should be thoroughly ventilated during and after use.
