Now the 28-year-old also has a reason to celebrate in his private life: he has asked his partner Ellie Alderson for his hand in marriage – and she said yes. The couple announced their engagement on Instagram on Monday. Ollie Watkins and Ellie Alderson shared several photos of the proposal with their fans.
In the first picture, the football star can be seen kneeling in front of his girlfriend, who is standing on a terrace on Lake Como surrounded by white roses and candles. In his hand, he is holding the open box with the ring.
In further snapshots, which you can see by clicking on the arrow on the right of the post, the two can be seen in a warm embrace and impressions of the scenery. “My future wife! It was just right,” Watkins wrote, along with a red heart emoji and the Italian flag. Within a few hours, the post was “liked” almost 150,000 times, and the comments are full of congratulations.
Alderson also shared the photos on her account and raved: “A special night at Lake Como with my fiancé. Ahhhh, sooo happy!” The couple is currently spending their vacation in Italy before Watkins starts the next season with his club Aston Villa.
The couple has been together since 2018 and has two children together. Daughter Amara was born in September 2021. Son Marley was born around one and a half years later. The family lives in Birmingham, UK.
