Elvira Becker has died at the age of 89. Boris Becker came to her funeral service with his sons – but daughter Anna was missing. Now she explains the reasons.
Boris Becker lost his mother a few weeks ago. At the age of 89, Elvira Becker was found lifeless in her apartment on November 21st. The tennis star has been in mourning ever since. This Saturday he said goodbye to Elvira with his family. His wife Lilian and his three sons Elias, Noah and Amadeus stood by him. They attended the funeral service together in the Sacred Heart Church in Leimen.
Only Anna Ermakova wasn't there. Now the 24-year-old has given an interview to “Bild” and talked about the reasons for her absence. “At the moment everyone is mourning grandma. That's the most important thing.” Then she takes notice, saying: “I think it's common knowledge that my father and I have differences that need to be resolved. I didn't want that to overshadow the situation and make anyone uncomfortable at the memorial service.”
Becker's daughter plans to visit her grandmother's grave at a later date. Anna Ermakova does not reveal when exactly that will be. “I would like to pay my respects privately and am concentrating on healing for now,” she said. Contact with her father seems to have only been sporadic for a long time – Elvira Becker also rarely saw the 24-year-old.
Nevertheless, she mourns the loss very much: “Although I unfortunately didn't know my grandmother very well, it hit me harder than I expected. She was a strong woman who always showed me kindness when I met her,” says von Anna Ermakova continued in the interview. It is unclear what exactly lies behind the differences with her father. The illegitimate daughter and her mother Angela Ermakova hardly have a relationship with the six-time Grand Slam winner.
