After her death, Princess Diana left behind her brother Charles Spencer, among others. The British aristocrat is married for the third time, but last June he made his separation from his wife Karen Spencer public. The former couple have one child together: daughter Charlotte. A rare picture of her has now appeared on social media.
In the private photo that Karen Spencer posted on her Instagram channel, Charlotte can be seen in riding clothes. She is standing between a pony and a dog and grinning. The background to the post, however, is a sad one: Karen Spencer is remembering the two animals that died last month.
They had to put down “Roo, Charlotte's first competition pony and our Labrador, Otis,” explains Karen Spencer. She misses her dog most of all. “I can't believe he's gone,” she writes. The photo she shared is reminiscent of “happier times.”
Charlotte is now eleven years old. She is the only child of Charles and Karen Spencer. The parents met on a blind date in Los Angeles in 2010 and got married at Althorp a year later. Princess Diana was also buried on the Spencer family estate.
The royal was the first wife of the then Prince Charles. She had two children, Prince William and Prince Harry. Diana and Charles divorced in 1996, and one year later her life came to a tragic end: Pursued by paparazzi, her car crashed in a tunnel in Paris. The princess died of her serious injuries in hospital.
