The 85-year-old singer started his farewell tour on Monday evening. But is that really the end for Peter Kraus?
In the 1960s he became famous as “German Elvis”, but he has long outlived his idol. Peter Kraus is now more than twice as old as the King of Rock'n'Roll, who died at the age of 42 – and is still on stage. The singer turned 85 in March and announced a farewell tour to mark the milestone.
The start of “Rockin' 85! – The big birthday concert 2024” took place on Monday evening in Berlin's Friedrichstadt-Palast. Peter Kraus wants to play a total of eleven concerts, after which the touring life will be over – this time for good.
The pop star had already promised this to his wife Ingrid in 2019 for their 50th wedding anniversary. But Peter Kraus announced further concert series. He doesn't want to say goodbye to the stage completely now. After the last appearance in October there will be more individual shows, he just won't go on a classic tour, as a spokeswoman for the concert organizer Semmel Concerts Entertainment told the German Press Agency.
“I play concerts until my body says at some point: 'It's okay now, Peter!'” Kraus made it clear in an interview with “Bild” last year. He doesn't feel old at all, on the contrary: “I'm very lucky to feel 25 years younger than my passport says,” says the musician.
This is ensured, among other things, by special autologous blood therapy with ozone, which he has been undergoing for a long time. He can't stop the aging process, “but it builds me up again,” says the 85-year-old. In the method, blood is first taken, which is then injected again enriched with oxygen and anti-inflammatory ozone. In this way, the body can “support itself in healing itself,” explained Peter Kraus.
