Actress Franka Potente shares bad and good news at the same time. After she was diagnosed with cancer, she beat the disease.
Franka Potente, who is known for her role in the film “Run Lola Run”, is now reporting on a personal stroke of fate. She received a diagnosis of breast cancer. However, now she has some good news to share.
As the 50-year-old says in an interview with “Zeit Online”, she felt “a strange feeling in my right side” in the winter of 2022. A mammogram initially did not produce clear results, which is why she insisted on further examinations. After a tissue examination, she received a breast cancer diagnosis in April 2023.
The tumor, which was not an aggressive type, was surgically removed. Shortly before the procedure, she consciously opted for intensive physical activity and a strict diet without sugar and dairy products. “The claim was always: I don't want to die.”
After the operation, she received several sessions of radiation. “Medically, you can say that the illness lasted over an intensive phase of four months, after which the nightmare was over,” says Potente, who now explains: “I have regular follow-up checks, but I'm cancer-free again.”
In the interview, Potente also describes the feeling that accompanied her after she received the breast cancer diagnosis: “Imagine you are a house in which there is a fire on every floor. Should you first look for the fire extinguisher, turn off the beeping smoke detector, Call the fire department or run out? Total alarm!”
