Tearful farewell after “absolute testosterone battle”

    -

The next exit was now imminent in the Legends Jungle Camp. This farewell broke all barriers.

Editor’s note: The content of this article refers to the jungle camp episode, which will not be shown on linear TV until August 28th, but is already available on RTL+.

There are a few things that are different in “I'm a Celebrity – Jungle Legends in a Showdown” than in the regular jungle camp. Not only did the filming take place in South Africa instead of Australia, but the way in which the candidates leave the show is also different. The viewers don't decide on the exits by telephone voting, instead the campers nominate each other. In the latest episode, however, only two candidates are allowed to decide on the expulsion of a fellow contestant.

On day 13, it's mainly the men who are in demand in the jungle camp. Kader Loth and Daniela Büchner initially go on a treasure hunt and win several coveted bags of chips for themselves and their fellow contestants – but later on, the men of creation will take part in the jungle test. And the selection is a surprise.

The Jungle Camp presenters Sona Zietlow and Jan Köppen call Mola Adebisi to the star hunt. The former Viva presenter is allowed to choose a companion. He chooses Eric Stehfest – but what he doesn't know at the time is that they won't be sent into the test alone.

Instead, they have to compete as a team of two against Thorsten Legat and Gigi Birofio. This means that all the men in the camp are scheduled for the “absolute testosterone battle”, as Zietlow calls it. What awaits the men? They have to collect stars from a glass tank in their teams. This is not only filled with water, but also, in the style of the jungle camp, with living animals such as crabs, catfish and Reticulated pythons.

The teams engage in a bitter battle, which Stehfest and Adebisi win before the time runs out. They collect all nine stars required. “What does that mean now?” Zietlow asks the question that also concerns the candidates and answers: “For one of the two losers, the jungle is over – immediately. Eric and Mola will decide which of the two that is.”

“We have made our decision: Thorsten,” Stehfest reveals shortly afterwards. They decide on Legat because he is “unfortunately the strongest opponent.” “That's the game. Everything's fine,” the former football player initially seems to be coping well with his dismissal.

“That was it, that is the end of the journey. I lived it, I loved it. Everything is fine,” says Legat, but shortly afterwards he fights back tears: “I have learned one thing: to lose gracefully. Anger and hatred are bad advisers. And I wish the winner, who takes the crown, that with all my heart.” Then all the dams break inside him.

He feels “heartache”: “I can't imagine that this will all be over now.” After his exit, only Daniela Büchner, Elena Miras, Kader Loth, Sarah Knappik and Georgina Fleur are left in the race for the jungle crown: Stehfest, Adebisi and Birofio.

On August 15, “I'm a Celebrity – The Showdown of the Jungle Legends” started on RTL+. On linear television, the special broadcast to mark the show's 20th anniversary only started one day later.

As usual, the jungle camp will be hosted by Sonja Zietlow and Jan Köppen. However, this year “I'm a Celebrity – The Showdown of the Jungle Legends” will not take place in Australia, but in South Africa. The show was also recorded. Filming took place several weeks ago.
