So far, vacuum robots can only avoid objects. Devices can now be admired on the CES that, for example, can independently remove socks or shoes with a gripping arm.
There is a new trend for robot vacuum cleaners: griffin arms. At the Technik-Messe Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, the manufacturers Roborock and Dreet show devices that can clear objects around instead of just bypass them.
Roborock's model Saros Z70 is already ready for the market. The vacuum cleaner has a five-part, extendable robot arm with gripper, LED light, integrated sensors and camera at the top. It can thus recognize objects with a weight of up to 300 grams, collect and transport them out of the way.
Saros clears the socks away
At the CES stand, Roborock demonstrates the function with socks that the vacuum robot brings into a basket. However, it can also be towels or light sandals, for example. Users can determine which objects the device can cancel – and where they should be stored. Roborock initially did not call a price for the Saros Z70.
Just a few meters away, the competitor Dream showed his prototype of a vacuum robot with a four -part gripping arm. It is a little stronger and should be able to lift up to 400 grams of objects. The Chinese manufacturer specifies the range with 40 centimeters.
Various brushes or sponges can also be attached to the arm. This should not only reach the vacuum cleaner that he does not fit into. According to Dream, he can even select and put on the necessary tools independently. Dreame initially did not give an appointment for the market launch – but it could be ready by the end of the year. The market launch at IFA may be announced in Berlin next September.
