Sophia Thomalla stands behind Friedrich Merz. The moderator, who was once a CDU member, becomes political in a new post.

The “Are You The One?” Moderator was a member of the CDU for twelve years before leaving the party in 2023 due to the dealings with allegations of abuse against Rammstein frontman Till Lindemann, her ex-boyfriend. Read more about this here. However, she did not completely turn her back on the CDU. Although she was still “far away” to join the party, she still wants to vote for her in the upcoming Bundestag election, she now emphasizes in an Instagram post.

In her contribution, the 35-year-old clearly stands behind Friedrich Merz. In her opinion, he is “finally a politician who dares something”. For Thomalla, democracy means “that the parties do not rule past the majority”. Friedrich Merz “finally didn't do that” that he “went”. Thomalla thus refers to Merz 'plan to change the right to asylum. With his draft for the so -called influx limitation law, however, he failed last Friday, but a narrow majority in the Bundestag had voted against his proposal.

The SPD also voted the draft, where Thomalla practiced sharp criticism in her post. The party has been too inactive on the subject of asylum policy in recent years. “Even worse: you have clearly spoken out against the asylum seeker.” According to Thomalla, this means “If you want to change the topic of migration, you have to choose black or blue, which is a shitty choice if you have the AfD the alternative to the CDU alone, which all want to prevent”.

“If you want to invalidate the AfD, you have to tackle and change topics such as asylum and economy,” said Thomalla, who claims that the CDU would now make “militant left”. “Always the same world pain influencers” would complain and “press the lacrimal gland”, it does not call specific names.

In her post, Thomalla also deals with economic problems in Germany. Young entrepreneurs would put stones in their way. Sometimes she sees measures within the framework of climate protection as a problem: “The excessive bureaucracy, as with so -called sustainability reports, etc., and infinite regulations ensure that people are less like to set up something in Germany. Correctly”, she says.
