An “event” at a company event leads to the resignation of SAP CEO Jürgen Müller. However, what exactly happened is not disclosed. His behavior did not reflect the company's values, it said in a statement.
Another upheaval on the board at SAP: Chief Technology Officer Jürgen Müller is leaving the software company at the end of September, the company announced. Müller and the supervisory board had mutually agreed on his departure. He has been a board member since 2019.
“At a past company event there was an incident where I behaved inappropriately,” said Müller. Müller said he regrets that he acted rashly and sincerely apologizes to everyone involved. His behavior did not reflect the values at SAP. “I take full responsibility and think that my resignation is the best thing for the company,” Müller continued. When asked, the company and a spokeswoman did not provide any details about the incident.
Chairman of the Supervisory Board Pekka Ala-Pietilä thanked Müller in the message “for his significant achievements” and wished him all the best for his future. Müller has been working at SAP since 2013 and has been a member of the board since 2019. Recently there have been several changes on the board of the DAX group.
SAP is going through a major upheaval. In order to prepare for the age of artificial intelligence, thousands of employees are expected to leave the company. A severance pay and early retirement program was very well received this summer: many employees registered in the hope of leaving earlier. SAP then announced that it would let even more employees go than originally planned.
