The price for gas has increased significantly within one year, new customers now have to pay up to 43 percent more. What consumers can do now.
If you are currently completing a new gas contract, you have to dig deeper into your pocket: within one year, prices rose by around 43 percent. The comparison portal Verivox determined this.
The average labor price for new customers is now 10 cents per kilowatt hour – in February 2024 there were still 7 cents. For a model household in a single -family house with a consumption of 20,000 kWh, annual additional costs of around 600 euros.

According to the comparison portal Verivox, there are currently no signs of falling prices. Experts therefore advise you to complete a cheaper guest tariff with a price guarantee in order to protect yourself against further price increases.
Anyone who stays in the basic care tariff pays an average of 13.93 cents/kWh – this results in annual heating costs of 2,786 euros. If you choose a cheap tariff with a price guarantee, you can get 10 cents/kWh – this corresponds to 2,000 euros per year. A tariff change can save up to 800 euros annually.
