Emotional deal for VfL Bochum: Herbert Grönemeyer becomes “Vonne Castroper” in the DFB Cup sleeve sponsor of the club. The team will compete on the sleeve for the first time at the game on Sunday with the lettering “HG 4630 Bochum”, the football club said. This is a reference to the celebrated anniversary of the musician's double platform. Grönemeyer's album “4630 Bochum” appeared in 1984. “It was always a big dream of mine to run in the VfL jersey in the Ruhr Stadium,” Grönemeyer is quoted in his message. He had not succeeded. But he is very happy to “have made it to the jersey”. “The idea came about around his spectacular concerts in our Vonovia Ruhr Stadium,” said Tim Jost, director of marketing and sales of VfL Bochum. The association is very proud to have won one of the best -known artists in Germany as a cup partner with Grönemeyer. With the jersey, the association also wants to support charity. For each jersey, 10 euros of the sales price of the limited jerseys are to go to the “Tafel Bochum & Wattenscheid EV – children's table” as well as the “Suppe kitchen Bochum eV”. In addition, they should receive the amount that comes together by auctioning worn jerseys.
“We are very pleased that our team will appear with the legendary HG 4630 Bochum lettering in this cup season and that we can do something good,” said Jost.
