Actor Heinz Hoenig has been receiving medical treatment since the end of April and has already had to undergo several operations. After an emergency operation and a bacterial infection, his esophagus was removed. The 72-year-old also needs another, life-saving operation on his aorta – but he is not stable enough for that.
After it became known that Heinz Hoenig had to be resuscitated in mid-July, many fans were worried. To calm them down, the “Das Boot” actor addressed a few personal words to his followers on Friday, August 2nd. It was the first time in weeks that the TV star had spoken to a camera. This sparked a debate on Instagram about his appearance. Words that bother Hoenig's wife Annika.
Many social media users were relieved when they saw Heinz Hoenig. “Even though his hair is grey and his face is narrower, his eyes are alive,” said one fan happily. But the film actor's Instagram clip also elicited negative feedback: “Help, he is unrecognizable,” “I really don't want to see something like that,” and “I would never have recognized him,” read the video message.
Annika Kärsten-Hoenig was not the only one outraged by such comments, she also received many messages from horrified followers: “Please don't get angry with the people who spread so many low-class and spiteful comments on the Internet. They are not worth stealing our positive energy,” says the 39-year-old in her Instagram story. She is sure that the lives of these people are “pretty frustrating.” “Because they lack one thing: a good heart to love and be loved,” says the mother of two.
However, she can certainly understand that some fans are “perhaps a little shocked” when they see Heinz Hoenig. “When you consider that he was in bed for 14 weeks. That obviously means an enormous loss of substance, especially of muscle mass. And then after such a course of events, people can look like Heinz does now,” says Annika Kärsten-Hoenig, defending her husband.
For her, her partner's appearance plays no role at all: “What really counts in life is inner values. And Heinz is still the old Heinz, as we know him – and as we love him,” explains the actor's wife. She will always love him “as he is.” She is particularly proud of his fighting spirit, which he has demonstrated in the clinic over the past few weeks: “He only wants one thing: to get back on the stage of life.”
