Veterans Day Speech

veteransday14-1

I believe the people that are carrying on with their lives today without. any thought of why we have this holiday are living under the bare minimum requirements in order to live here — in America. To me; all of you, who took time out of your day to come here, to honor and thank our heroes; YOU are truly Americans.

Now, to shift gears, let’s take a step back and think about some of the things that Veterans have done for us. Now I want to speak mostly to the students and young adults here. I am sure that some of you can’t wait to graduate and go to college somewhere, and leave Milbank in your rearview mirror. It’s ok, I have been there, and I know the mentality. But, what if I told you as you were leaving; you cannot come back for at least a year, maybe 2 or 3 years. And you don’t get to take all of your clothes, video games, or movies, – — in fact, just leave your car here. You won’t need that either. Oh and by the way, you aren’t actually going to college, we are going to send yob somewhere where people don’t like you. Where, in fact, people hate you enough to even try to kill you. Sounds pretty scary right? Well, that’s what thousands of young men were basically told when their draft or lottery number came up. Oh and by the way, lottery to those guys doesn’t mean the same as the word lottery does to you and I. It wasn’t exactly a good thing.

Good Morning Everyone,

Well, here we are again; same day, same time, same place… Honoring our Veterans. I would like to begin by sharing a personal opinion of mine.

This is not coming from the Military side of me, but from the ordinary – citizen side of me – if you know what I mean. I believe that living in America does not make you an American. I know that sounds like a pretty profound statement, but please let me explain. What truly constitutes being an American? Is it simply being born in our great nation and living here? Is it having a birth certificate and a social security card or is it more than that? To me, it takes a certain level of appreciation and awareness to be an American. Our veterans have given, sacrificed so much, and worked so hard to give us what we have today, and I believe that you should have to give some sort of conscious effort to remember and appreciate them in order to be able to call yourself an American. I am sure that some people may disagree with me, and that is great! Because it proves my point: We have the freedom to express opinions and to disagree! Who fought to protect that freedom? And more importantly, today, who stands up to ensure those rights are not infringed or taken away from us?

The Velem

As I walk down the battlefield with my family on my mind, I am always fearful of what it is I’ll find. I take a look at t. “enemy” and sec they’re just like nte. It makes mc sad to battie them: all we both want is to be free. None of them I’d want to kill, that, be like killing rite, But I know what I’ve got to do, I’ve got to be free.

And now at last I’m going home, with bloodstains on nty shirt, I’m not proud of what I’ve done, not proud of who I’ve hurt. But then I realize what it was for, my country great and strong, and when I remember America it doesn’t feel so wrong. I remember my allies dead and the enemy too, but war cannot be a happy thing. but we all fight for you. It can make me uncomfortable to talk about the past, the thoughts I tried to push away, but they keep coming back. I am grateful for the honor t’day, but I still need some rest, a soldiers life is an unhappy onc, but they fight for the best. Remember us.

Hope this post helps you with best veterans day speech.
